Électrochimiste, mon activité de recherche est centrée sur l’utilisation de l’électrochimie comme outil analytique pour quantifier un composé spécifique engagé dans une transformation multi-étapes (métabolisme, séquence catalytique, ...) et identifier ses interactions avec des barrières biologiques (membranes lipidiques). Dans cette thématique, nous développons des systèmes et des méthodes permettant de contrôler électrochimiquement l’émission de lumière, point de départ d’une  imagerie matérialisant ces interactions.

Champ de recherche

L’axe de recherche central que je développe concerne la détermination électrochimique des étapes réactionnelles mises en œuvre lors de séquences métaboliques ou catalytiques. Un exemple représentatif est celui des ferrocifènes, molécules cytotoxiques et donc intéressantes dans le traitement de cancers, dont nous avons établi le métabolisme d’oxydation par une étude électrochimique approfondie.

Je me suis également intéressé à la problématique de la distribution de molécules dans l‘organisme, en étudiant le passage transmembranaire notamment des ferrocifènes à partir de systèmes modèles constitués de bicouches lipidiques déposées à l’électrode ou suspendues à l’extrémité d’une pipette de patch clamp.

Plus récemment, notre stratégie de recherche s’est orientée vers l’activation ou la désactivation électrochimique de molécules (sondes) fluorescentes. En effet, la fluorescence est nettement plus sensible que l’ampérométrie pour détecter et imager ces sondes dans l’environnement d’intérêt (bicouches lipidiques) et le couplage à l’électrochimie permet de fixer le statut rédox de ces molécules et de contrôler in fine la localisation (voisinage de l’électrode) et l’état d’oxydation révélé par l’imagerie.
