Nicolas was a student at ENS where he did his PhD under the supervision of Jean-Pierre Nadal and  got a permanent CNRS position at the  Physics department.  He subsequently moved to University Paris-Descartes and then to the US, but he has always kept strong links with ENS.  Different members of the IBENS, DEC and  Physics department had the great pleasure to collaborate with him during the last 20 years.
